Blue Chalet | custom home
Mid-Century Modern With Warm Interior Spaces
A constrained site with neighbors close on both sides and limited southern exposure — not the easiest starting point for a custom mountain home in Bend. But constraints tend to produce better architecture.
Working closely with our clients and their architect, we treated the site limitations as design problems worth solving rather than compromises to manage. The result is a home that feels open and light-filled despite what the lot seemed to allow — a careful arrangement of volumes, glazing, and interior planning that pulls daylight in from every viable angle.
The mountain chalet form fits the setting: a home that belongs in the trees, with the materiality and character to match. Inside, the spaces feel generous and warm, with the kind of craftsmanship and detail that makes a house feel considered rather than just built.
Blue Chalet is a reminder that the best custom homes aren't always built on the easiest sites — sometimes the interesting ones come from working harder with less.
